The SESTO PNT3 converter is designed to power devices and facilities with 3x230/400V AC in locations where access to the 3kV DC traction network is available, but direct connection to 3x230/400V AC is not possible, or constructing an LPN line is economically unfeasible.
The SESTO PNT3 converter is powered by a nominal 3000V DC traction voltage. It is equipped with an autostart system, eliminating the need for additional auxiliary voltage. The converter automatically starts up when the supply voltage is applied and produces 3x230/400V AC at the output. After starting, besides being powered by the autostart, the converter is additionally powered by alternating voltage, thus reducing the load on the autostart system.
The PNT3 converter is equipped with a line contactor and a pre-charging system to limit the inrush current when the line contactor is activated. The power conversion path is implemented using IGBT technology with 3.3kV modules (two three-phase inverters connected in series). A three-phase, three-winding transformer is responsible for galvanic isolation. The converter has a digital input (230V AC), 2 relay outputs, and 2 CAN communication channels. The converter can be controlled via digital inputs or CAN communication. Through CAN communication, the converter sends information about operating parameters and diagnostic information. The door features two signal indicators: a red fault indicator and a green indicator signaling the converter's operation. The door also houses the power circuit breaker.
